FAQ

Are you looking for new players?

Yes, we are always looking for new players either with or without experience, everyone is welcome!

I don’t know the rules, will I be able to play?

Yes. Many players start out not knowing a lot of the rules, other than those they see on TV. We will teach each player the rules of their positions and that of those around them.

I don’t have a helmet or shoulder pads?

That’s OK, the West Coast Wolverines will provide all the protective equipment you need, including shoulder pads and helmets for all shapes and sizes.

Is there anything I need to supply?

All you need to bring is cleats (football boots), a coloured mouth guard, and a water bottle.

Where and when do you train?

The West Coast Wolverines train on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Forrest Park, Padbury. Juniors (ages 13-18) train 5.30pm-7.30pm and seniors (19+) train 7.00pm-9.00pm.

Where do you play?

The games are split between 3-4 main locations. They are usually at Edinburgh Oval (Curtin University) in Bentley, Anniversary Park in Rockingham and Forrest Park in Padbury.

When does the season run?

Pre-season usually starts around June/July with the actual season running October to February.

I have not played contact sports before, will I get hurt?

Being a contact sport there is always the possibility of being hurt/injured. We will provide training into the correct tackling techniques, and how to play the game to keep you as safe as possible. We will also have a first-aid certified trainer at each training session and game to attend to any issues you may have.

Do I need to be able to throw or catch the ball?

Not necessarily. Only a few positions require handling of the ball. If throwing or catching isn’t your thing, we can find you another position.

How do I go about joining up?

Contact the West Coast Wolverines through the “Contact Us” page of this website and one of our board members will be in touch as soon as possible.

How much does it cost to play?

Season fees are a one-off fee of around $400.00 which covers your Gridiron West registration, insurances, field hire, referees, protective equipment, plus more. Payment plans are available and all enquiries should be directed to the Club Treasurer Arran Webzell.

I’m after a team with a great social scene, would this be for me?

Absolutely. Both our juniors and seniors teams socialise outside of the games and even outside of the season. We also host a number of social events throughout the calendar year too!
